A sisterhood

Well Being. Beauty. Community.

The strength of sisterhood and a passion for women’s health and wellbeing: Aimee and Holly Boyce are sisters from Bournville, Birmingham, who after working in the beauty industry for over 10 years, founded a new beauty and wellbeing experience called House of Lavender.

After Aimee, 34 and Holly, 31 finished studying their respective degrees – Forensic Science (BSc)  and Psychology (BSc) – they knew their fate lay in working together. Growing up with parents who were both self employed, owning a business felt “normal”, prompting a plan to build their own venture. After signing a lease for a commercial period property in their historic home village of Bournville, the young women opened their first beauty salon in 2014.

“We grew up living and breathing the beauty industry, so making that leap into owning our own business within it, felt like a natural move for us.” explains Holly.

“People often say to us that they wish they were as brave as us, but we never saw it that way. Back then we had no commitments or dependents, so whilst signing the lease on premises felt daunting, it was more of a ‘why not’? I think Holly and I have carried that attitude along with us over the last decade, but it definitely felt more nerve wracking launching House of Lavender.” continues, Aimee.

If paths are carved for you, then Aimee and Holly are examples of following a feeling and striving for a passion that has presented many opportunities along the way. As their beauty business grew, so did their collective belief that feelings of wellness, confidence and comfort shouldn’t be classed as a luxury for women, but as a necessity.

Now both mothers to young children between the ages of one and five years, they acknowledge their own personal growth, along with their clients’ needs and wants, are the driving force for the next stage of their business and the launch of House of Lavender.

House of Lavender invites women to experience, enjoy and connect. It provides clinical, spa and beauty treatments alongside reformer pilates classes and specialist female wellbeing sessions, hosted by experts in menopause, nutrition, acupuncture, osteopathy and more.

With specialisms in skincare, massages, eyebrow definition and laser therapies, Aimee and Holly are also passionate about offering a range of transformative treatments and advanced technologies to their clients: from the Hydra Skinstorm Facial, Mesoestetic Chemical Peels and Cryotherapy, to lymphatic drainage massages and hair, thread vein and skin pigmentation removal using their in-house Cynosure Elite and Revlite Lasers.

“We realised the changes we have both experienced as sisters, business owners and now mothers over the last 10 years, was something that most women experience in some way. As women we fulfil so many roles, giving a lot to others and often leaving very little for ourselves. We wanted a beauty and wellness experience that was accessible for the women in our community and beyond.” says Holly.

“We talk to so many different women every week. Women from different backgrounds, ethnicities and ages, from stay at home mums to CEOs. We all have similar insecurities, inner battles and very limited time for ourselves. We hope that having a space like House of Lavender can help bring down some of those barriers and offer a place where women can pause, breathe, revitalize and connect.” Aimee concludes.
